Musical Storytime with Mr. Corbitt!
Mr. Corbitt’s Musical Storytime is an interactive storytelling concert performance series for young children and their families. Musical Storytime is based on Mr. Corbitt's collection of Musical Storybooks, illustrated picture books based on popular songs across all decades and genres, which he curates into themed, interactive setlists. The words on the pages are the lyrics to the tune, and the author of the book is the composer of the song, so Mr. Corbitt sings each storybook for the entirety of each Musical Storytime performance. In between each story, Mr. Corbitt leads singalongs of early childhood classics, simple nursery rhymes, and modern favorites. Included with the program is a variety of small shakers so that each attending child has one pair for the duration of the program, and for selected themes, a collection of movement scarves. Program attendees are encouraged to sing along, shake shakers, dance, clap, and shout, "Hooray!"
Musical Storytime: Deluxe!
Musical Storytime: Deluxe! is an early childhood music class based on Mr. Corbitt's Musical Storytime performances. Each 45-minute session will take a Musical Storytime theme and expand it into a fully interactive music class for 12 months-4 years old, complete with three to four sets of children's instruments and movement props. Mr. Corbitt will lead the group through an individualized hello circle, rhythm activities rooted in music theory, singalongs, dance & movement games, and free instrument exploration play, all while singing the musical storybooks that best fit each class's theme. Mr. Corbitt will draw on his extensive experience as an early childhood music teacher and his original curriculum library to provide a dynamic music class experience for each child. Currently available at Beacon Performing Arts Center at 4pm on September 18th, October 16th, November 20th, and December 18th, 2026.
